On 5th December, we hosted a Clean Up Drive at Taloja Hill Forest for 104 B.Sc. IT students from Khalsa College. Together, they collected 22kg of non-biodegradable waste, making a significant contribution to preserving the forest’s natural beauty. Thank you to all the students for their enthusiasm and commitment to creating a cleaner, greener environment.
On 3rd December, we organized a successful Ring De-Weeding activity at Taloja Hill Forest, with 95 enthusiastic B.Sc. IT students from Khalsa College. Together, they removed 110 sapling rings, significantly contributing to the health and growth of the forest ecosystem. A heartfelt thank you to all the students for their dedication and hard work in making this event a success.
Our year-long Environmental Stewardship Programme in Mulund transformed 58 underprivileged children into young environmental leaders. Through 22 activities, including nature camps, workshops, and DIY projects, we reached 648 individuals, fostering eco-friendly habits and unity among diverse communities. Highlights include installing 16 solar lamps, creating a Butterfly Garden, planting fruit saplings, and forming the Balmitra Nature Club with 15 dedicated changemakers leading the way. Together, we’re nurturing a sustainable and inclusive future!
On 27th November, we created a vibrant Butterfly Garden in Palaspada as part of our Environment Stewardship Programme. A gift to the community and young green crusaders of the Harit Bala Mitra Prakalpa, this initiative continues our mission to inspire learning and action through Nature Club activities. Together, we’re nurturing a greener future!
As part of the Environment Stewardship Programme, solar lamps have been installed in the lanes of Palaspada, Mulund! These lights will improve safety, reduce energy consumption, and promote sustainable living. A big thank you to the children and community members for their involvement in this project!
On 24th November, we concluded our year-long Environmental Stewardship Program with a valedictory event in Khindipada, Mulund, Mumbai. Supported by the Hubert Humphrey Fellowship Alumni Impact Grant, the program nurtured 50 children into budding environmentalists through education, activities, and community engagement. The event celebrated their achievements with awards, certificates, and saplings, and prizes were given for outstanding contributions, including essay writing and community leadership. The children also launched a new Nature Club to continue their conservation journey.
On 17th November, we celebrated the grand opening of Kehimkar’s Butterfly Garden with Breakfast with Butterflies. The event featured guided tours, butterfly photography sessions, fruit-baiting activities, a quiz, face painting, and live caterpillar displays. Participants received curry leaf plants as gifts, making it a memorable day of learning, fun, and conservation in Karjat.
On 17th November, as part of our Environment Stewardship Program, we conducted a street play titled Harmony with the Wild at Khindipada near Sanjay Gandhi National Park. The play raised awareness about man-animal conflict, waste management, and wildlife conservation. It engaged 75-80 local residents and concluded with an insightful discussion on peaceful coexistence led by a Forest Guards.
On 27th October, we conducted a Survey on Frogs and Lizards at Taloja Hill Forest, Kharghar, led by Mr. Mohinish Reddy. With one dedicated participant, Ms. Mrignaka, joining us on the trail, we explored the vibrant habitat of Taloja Hills and made this survey a success. Through the event, we discovered reptiles and amphibians in their natural habitat, learnt to identify species, record data, and contributed to conservation efforts.
28 students from our Environment Stewardship Program explored the local flora and fauna, at Maharashtra Nature Park, led by Ms. Sarita Achrekar. The students learned about the importance of sustainable living and biodiversity
by observing native plants and birds to discovering fascinating insects. They gained a deeper understanding of ecological balance and how sustainable practices can be integrated into our daily lives.
39 enthusiastic second-year MCA students from Guru Nanak Khalsa College rolled up their sleeves and removed 600 saplings of invasive species, along with performing extensive de-weeding at the site. Their hard work and dedication made a significant impact on restoring the natural habitat at Taloja Hill Forest. A big thank you to these eco-warriors for their tireless efforts!
On 13th October, we hosted a bird survey at Taloja Hill Forest with 8 enthusiastic participants, led by Dr. Ketki Marthak. During the survey, the group learned the art of birdwatching using the point and count method and spotted 41 bird species. Each sighting contributes to valuable conservation efforts and helps us better understand the rich biodiversity of our surroundings.
On 9th October, 26 students from Shri Balaji International School, Kalamboli, participated in a successful cleanup drive at Taloja Hill Forest. The students collected 10 kg of garbage, contributing to the conservation of the forest. We thank everyone involved for their efforts!
On 29th September, 43 students from our Environment Stewardship Program visited Ranibaug Zoo for an enriching experience. Led by Ms. Gauri Gurav, Ms. Sushila Raddy, Mr. Sabir, and volunteer Ms. Neha Patil, the students learned about Compassion for Animals and wildlife conservation. This visit helped deepen their understanding of the importance of respecting and caring for all living beings. Together, we are fostering a future rooted in empathy and action.
On 29th September, we hosted a Butterfly Walk at Taloja Hill Forest as part of Big Butterfly Month. A group of 34 participants, led by Ms. Jyoti Nadkarni and Mr. Soumendra, spotted 15 butterfly species while exploring the scenic trails. It was a wonderful experience to connect with nature and appreciate the beauty of butterflies. Thank you to everyone who joined us!
On 28th September, we hosted a Karvi Walk at Taloja Hill Forest, led by Dr. Shreya Bhanap. A small group of 7 participants explored the unique landscape and witnessed the rare Karvi flowers in full bloom, an event that occurs once every 7 years. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with nature and learn about the region's rich biodiversity. Thank you to everyone who joined us!
On 27th September, 41 dedicated students from the IT Department of Khalsa College participated in a Cleanup Drive at Taloja Hill Forest. Despite the rain, they collected 60 kg of non-biodegradable waste, showcasing their commitment to preserving the forest’s beauty. Together, we're making a positive impact for a cleaner, greener future!
On 22nd September, we conducted a Butterfly Walk at Kothaligad with the Butterfly Man, Isaac Kehimkar, and the Moth Lady, Dr. Shubhalaxmi, as part of Big Butterfly Month. Despite the heat, 40 participants, including 14 children, spotted 16 butterfly species along the Karvi-covered trails. We extend our thanks to the Karjat Forest Department for their support in making this event a success.
On 20th September, in partnership with Khalsa College, 129 students participated in an invasive species removal and cleanup drive at Taloja Hill Forest. They successfully uprooted 3,000 saplings of American mint and collected 4 kg of non-biodegradable waste. Their dedication has made a significant impact in preserving the forest for future generations.
On 15th September, participants of our Bugs for Beginners online course explored various insect orders with Dr. V Shubhalaxmi. They also learned how to use the insect identification key and are now ready to apply their knowledge in the field.

On 8th September, we hosted a Butterfly Walk at Ambivli Biodiversity Park as part of Big Butterfly Month. A total of 15 participants joined us, and we spotted an impressive 32 butterfly species. The event raised awareness about butterfly conservation and fostered a deeper connection with nature.

On August 25th, our online course featured a captivating lecture by Dr. V. Shubhalaxmi, the renowned Moth Lady. She shared amazing insights into the insect world, from their roles in various sectors to remarkable records and industrial contributions. It was an engaging and educational session that left everyone excited about the world of insects!

On August 18th, participants had the chance to learn from Mr. Isaac Kehimkar, the Butterfly Man of India. He provided valuable insights into butterfly habitats, distribution, families, protection strategies, and migration patterns. It was an enlightening and fruitful session for all!
On August 24th, 24 students from S.I.E.S College planted 70 saplings at Taloja Hill Forest. A huge thank you to the students and volunteers for their efforts in enhancing our environment and preserving nature for future generations!
On August 11th, we hosted an Insect Day Camp for 10 enthusiastic kids from Palas Pada as part of the Environment Stewardship Programme. Under the expert guidance of Ms. Priti Choghale, they explored the park and discovered a variety of insects, including the stick insect, jewel bug, tortoise shell beetle, and carpenter bee. The highlight was the woolly bear moth caterpillar!
It was a day of discovery, learning, and excitement, deepening their appreciation for our rich biodiversity.
On August 11th, volunteer Mriganaka led a successful invasive species removal event, clearing over 100 American mint saplings. A big thank you to Mriganaka and the two additional volunteers for making this event successful !
On August 1st, we held the orientation for the "Bugs for Beginners" online course via Google Meet. During this session, participants were introduced to the course structure, discussed the topics to be covered, and met our esteemed instructors. We look forward to an engaging and informative journey as we explore the world of entomology together.
We conducted a successful plantation drive at Taloja Hill Forest with the enthusiastic participation of 42 volunteers from Worley India Service Ltd. Together, they planted 73 saplings of Bamboo, Clerodendron, Touch-me-not, and Karvanda.

On July 7th, 11 kids from the Environmental Stewardship Programme in Phanaspada explored their local forest. They discovered wild vegetables, learned about sustainable harvesting practices like plucking only the leaves, and enjoyed turning their finds into delicious dishes. This experience allowed them to connect with nature, acquire new skills, and have a blast
On July 7th, we conducted a seed dibbling event at Taloja Hills, Kharghar. Six dedicated participants came together to sow 270 Fever Nut seeds for live fencing at the base of the hill. We are grateful to our volunteers for their commitment and resilience in braving heavy rain to make this event a success.
A plantation drive was conducted for a plogging group at Taloja Hills, Kharghar! The volunteers participated in plogging while trekking up the hill and then planted 15 saplings. A total of 15 dedicated individuals joined us for this event. A huge thank you to our volunteers for making this event a success.
We conducted a successful plantation drive for 64 employees of Worley Service India Ltd. at Taloja Hills, Kharghar. The employees planted 55 tree saplings at the site. We deeply appreciate the commitment of all participants to environmental sustainability and their significant contribution to creating a greener community.
We were thrilled by the overwhelming response as 70 local volunteers gathered to plant 70 saplings at Taloja Hill, Kharghar. Twenty incredible volunteers from SIES College made a significant impact by planting a multitude of trees. Their efforts not only enhanced the environment but also deepened their understanding of the benefits of plants to ecosystems. We were immensely grateful for their hard work, positivity, and boundless enthusiasm! The event was a resounding success, fostering a stronger connection between the volunteers and the natural world they helped to nurture.
We had a fantastic turnout with 20 enthusiastic children and their parents, along with the support of our 6 dedicated volunteers. The kids were thrilled to receive their potted saplings, taking them home with promises to nurture their new plants, armed with valuable plant care tips! As part of our Environmental Stewardship Program at SGNP Khindipada, we distributed 20 fruit plant saplings including custard apple, guava, chikoo, white jamun, lemon, cherry, and mulberry.
We commenced the season's first volunteer plantation drive for the local community at Taloja Hill Forest. Five dedicated members participated, planting eight saplings on the hills. We appreciate our volunteers' support and commitment to restoring and beautifying our natural environment.
We celebrated the International Day of Biodiversity at SGNP Khindipada with 19 children and 8 interns. They participated in a nature trail, energy audit, and sustainable living workshop, learning about resource conservation and sustainability. We also distributed kitchen garden planters, and the feedback was fantastic as participants gained valuable knowledge on resource utilization and the importance of nature.
As part of the Environmental Stewardship Program, 15 participants enthusiastically cleared litter and learned to recycle water bottles into planters for microgreens. Their eagerness to embrace sustainable practices was inspiring. The event was a true celebration of environmental stewardship.
An excursion into the avian wonders of Taloja Hills was a captivating experience. Guided by the esteemed Dr. Ketki Marthak, an intimate group of 12 enthusiasts traversed the lush terrain, encountering a remarkable diversity of 22 distinct bird species. Each observation underscored the breathtaking beauty and rich biodiversity of the magnificent Taloja Hills.
As part of Global Recycling Day, thirty-five enthusiastic children united for a community clean-up initiative, making a significant impact by collecting an impressive 45 kg of plastic waste within just one hour as part of our environment stewardship programme. To facilitate the process, we distributed trash bags to every household for the collection of dry waste. All gathered waste will be sent for recycling, furthering our commitment to sustainability.
As part of our Environmental Stewardship Programme, a captivating nature trail guided 30 participants through enchanting outdoor beauty, gathering natural specimens for creative projects. A brainstorming session preceded poster-making, where children shared aspirations for cleaner neighborhoods. Imaginative posters depicted lush landscapes and community dreams, presented eloquently in a formal session. Winners received dry fruit packs, while all participants enjoyed chocolates as rewards.
A virtual Community Meeting for Taloja Hill Forest was held on 18th Feb! With the active participation of 10 community members, the session was an engaging exchange of ideas and insights. Dr. V. Shubhalaxmi shared her invaluable expertise, shedding light on the project's activities and providing insightful perspectives. Ms. Roshni Tiwari, the project officer at Taloja Hills, updated us on the ongoing work and interventions aimed at preventing soil erosion at the site. Furthermore, participants contributed their own perspectives, enriching the discussion and reaffirming our collective commitment to environmental stewardship.
24 tribal children from Khindipada participated in a clean-up and seed ball making activity at our Sanjay Gandhi National Park site, showcasing their dedication to environmental stewardship. Their energetic involvement in trail cleaning and plastic bottle collection, part of our Environmental Stewardship Programme, not only fostered a deeper understanding of waste management but also contributed over 260 seed balls to nurture nature's beauty.
As part of the Environment Stewardship Programme, 43 children and 34 parents from Khindipada enjoyed an educational trip to Sanjay Gandhi National Park. They explored the Nature Interpretation Centre, watched an enlightening movie, and embarked on an adventurous jungle safari, fostering a deep appreciation for biodiversity and environmental conservation.
We organized a sapling bag making activity at Taloja Hill Forest for the local community. Five participants joined the event and together, they successfully prepared a total of 90 saplings of Bahava, Pongam, and Khair. We are thankful to our volunteers whose efforts contributed to the success of this event.
