It's time to get engaged and make a difference in your city's environment.
Urban regions across the country place enormous strain on our natural resources. Consider Mumbai, where we rely significantly on the Lakes of Sanjay Gandhi National Park and Tansa Wildlife Sanctuary for freshwater supply, as well as the Arabian Sea for shipping and transporting agricultural goods, supporting the fishing industry, and providing as an industrial water source. This method is unsustainable in the long run, given our expanding demands and the added environmental stresses caused by climate change. Despite our heavy reliance on environment, many urban people lack access to or understanding of surrounding parks, green spaces, and the associated mental and physical benefits that nature provides, posing considerable threats to human health and well-being.
We can reintegrate nature into our cities, assuring their resilience, health, and equity for current and future generations, via wise planning, science-driven solutions, and strong collaborations. It's time to get engaged and make a difference in your city's environment. For the past seven years, The iNaturewatch Foundation has worked with over 300 volunteers across Greater Mumbai and Hyderabad who are passionate about conserving wildlife and their communities. Through their effort, Volunteer Stewardship Alliance (VSA), they hope to expand this network countrywide, inspiring local residents to take charge of their own environment.
Volunteer options range from removing invasive species and harvesting native plant seeds to pollinator population monitoring, maintaining public parks, school gardens, community gardens, and connecting communities with environment through outdoor programs. Everyone has a role to play, whether you're an individual, a family, or a group. As a network, iNaturewatch Foundation will provide guidance, opportunities and resources for its registered volunteers..
