Bugs on my mind!
The six-week course "Bugs for Beginners" came at a time when lockdown had been enforced and restricted movement had me chafing with restlessness. The course has meant six weeks of learning; learning to observe, ask questions, find answers- all of which has made me more curious about insects. I am now more aware of my surroundings, for even the small patch of garden which passed for my survey area threw up interesting observations. Even an annoying fly now grabs attention as it has a story waiting to be discovered and told. Interacting with other participants and discussing observations with the coordinators has been useful in identifications and better understanding. With well coordinated and regular assignments, interestingly titled chapters for further reading, do it yourself projects, online interactive sessions, virtual trips to insect land, participants sharing their pics on our lively WhatsApp group and down -to -earth experts travelling with us in this exploratory journey, the six weeks have just flown! As the butterfly does, so have I emerged from the course, changed and the wiser about Class Insecta!
