This was our first event on Central Park. Though we 25 sign ups but only small group actually dared to join us on a chilly Sunday morning. The place surprised us with myriad native and exotic trees that were planted along the pathway. Based on plantation we could assign a particular pathway to a tree e.g. Sita Ashok Lane, Peepal Lane, Tabebua Lane, Copperpod Lane, Laburnum Lane and Wild Almond Lane. The other trees who were the remanent of original forests included; Red Silk Cotton, Mahuva, Soccer Ball, Asan, Palymra, Charcoal tree, Banyan, iron tree and so on. The other highlights included hibernating stink bugs, harvester ants busy dehusking. Caterpillar of plain tiger and humming bird hawkmoth and green lacewing. There were good number of birds too such a Yellow wagtails, Black Drongo, Red Wattled lapwing, Shikha, Cattle Egret. Pond Heron and large congregation of cormorants near the water body. Overall it was well spent Sunday in nature’s lap.

iNaturewatch conducted a free marine walk for 31 students of Xaviers college on 14 Jan 2020 from 7 am to 9 am. The group sighted species of crab - Metopograpsus sp, Portunus sp, Egg mass of Nerita sp., Ceratium sp., Amphipods, Sponges and sea anemone. Ghost fishing was found and live berried crabs found in the netting. There was an unplanned mangrove cleanup taken up by the students which indicated awareness in the current generation.

On 15th Jan 2020 Marine walk was conducted by Sathish Chennuri and Chanakya at Chimbai beach(Bandra). Somaiya college students accompanied by their professors attended the marine walk, we could observe lot of rocky shore inhabitant flora and fauna i.e pistol shrimp, rock crabs, mollusc shells, hermit crab, sponges, sea anemone and decorator worm etc. Today we also have observed lot of abandoned fishing net (ghost net) in the intertidal region which may trap lot of organisms unnecessarily. The students also spotted the gutters releasing into the ocean and marine debris.

iNaturewatch in collaboration with United Way Mumbai conducted a Marine shore walk from 7:30 to 9: 30, for Rizvi college students and professors at Chimbai Beach, Bandra, The walk was conducted by our marine biologist Mr. Satish. The walk aimed at creating awareness about the huge marine biodiversity that the rocky beach is a home to.

A marine walk was conducted for 57 enthusiastic students of Rose Manor International School from 8.30 am to 10.30 am. Students explored the rocky beach of Chimbai and learn about the different marine organisms dwelling the rocky beach. They were amazed to see the sea anemone in the small rock pools. Hermit crabs, bivalves, barnacles, gastropods, and crabs were the other highlights of the walk.

A two-hour free Marine walk at Chimbai beach was conducted by Mr Sudan. Around 10 participants attended the walk and explored the neglected hidden marine life of the rocky shore of Chimbai beach. They observed pistol shrimp, rock crabs, mollusc shells, hermit crab, sponges, sea anemone and decorator worm, etc.

Did you know? You can get your lane stray dogs and cats vaccinated for as little as Rs.25/- each. That’s an anti-rabies dose, if you wish to give other preventative diseases vaccination it will cost another Rs.250/- each. This will ensure the stray leads a healthy life. The NGO P.A.W.S. can conduct such vaccination drives for such meagre amounts. Compare the health and safety of people and animals, this cost is negligible. We did this today where we vaccinated 8 strays of our lane, we urge others to do the same

National Moth Week 2021 is here and we at iNaturewatch Foundation already started celebrating. Our moth lady Dr Shubhalaxmi Vayulure was invited as a guest lecturer at Symbiosis College Pune and conducted a virtual conference on "Denizens of Dark Dynasty" - Moths and why it is important to conserve these species as very little is known about them to the world. Over 130 participants attended this event and were are enthusiastic to register for NMW 2021.

With the dewdrop of rains dwelling on the denuded hills of Taloja at Kharghar, our Project Intern: Ved conducted a Herpeto-fauna survey on 26th July 2021. Although Monsoon is perceived as an emergence of the hidden jewels in the thickets or lands, it is very challenging to conduct surveys on the hill during this month. With a preconceived notion about the sightings of the species, but to our surprise, Ved surpassed all the expectations and got some lifers while surveying. He witnessed that Reforestation is increasing the abundance of species and the exemplary correlation between forest and wildlife. The sighting he observed are as follows:
1. Lined Supple Skink
2. Forester Moth
3. Checkered Keelback
4. Brook's Gecko
5. Skittering Frog Tadpoles
6. Common Indian Toad
7. Burrowing Frog
8. Plain Tiger
9. Glassy Tiger
10. Arachnids!

Join Dr.Shubha to learn about becoming a citizen scientist. Also how you could contribute to science during this National Moth Week.

While working at Achari Kunta Hyderabad. We went on rescue missions to help some stray pups suffering from starvation and ligament tear due to accident or inadequate food. It takes more than an ounce to take action and feed this voiceless pups who live in this cruelty world happily while suffering to co-exist with us. Why not lend some hand in co-existing with these strays and give them a better lif

We successfully conducted a tree tagging event on a sunny Sunday morning. The volunteers turned out to be in great numbers and worked with zeal. A total of 16 volunteers joined us on Friendship day! Volunteers indeed have an amazing contribution/influence on our organization's mission.
We are thankful to all our community volunteers who came and did the hard work
P.S: We tagged 460+ trees in less than two hours

Blooms of Achari Kunta Lake: We planted birds, bees, butterflies and bats attracting plants around the Achari Kunta Lake. In a month’s time the plantation is in full bloom. Thanks the sandy soil and dry weather, the plants are blooming profusely. This lake suffered so many hurdles in getting rejuvenated but when it did, the lake and its biodiversity has supported it wholeheartedly. Our caretakers Ram & Maniamma regularly tend the plants with tender care. Everybody is happy; birds, bees, butterflies, bats and we too

A painting competition was organised on the banks of Achari Kunta Lake on the occasion of Independence Day. Over 60 students participated in the event which was conducted on 14-15 August. This was organised by our local partner Prahari Trust and our newly appointed Lake Warden Shri Ram Krishna Kumar. Participants received their certificates. This is first community event that has been organised.
