Bangalore, Muthurayanbetta


Muthurayanabetta is about thirty-five kilometres from Bangalore near Ravgudlu. Off the Kanakpura road, the green and irregular countryside is an idyllic destination for a quick weekend getaway. Chennai, Nanmangalam Forest


Chennai is not entirely a concrete jungle. In its immediate fringes are scrub jungles   with fairly thick foliage of tall trees that nurture life in all forms - Nanmangalam Reserve Forest. Nanmangalam Reserve Forest is a protected  forest located in the southern part of Chennai, about 24 km from  the city centre. It is located at Medavakkam on Velachery High Road   between Velachery and Tambaram. The reserve forest has an area of 320 hectares. However, the total area of the   forest is 2,400 hectares.The forest is popular among bird watchers and is home to about 85 species of birds. 

Hyderabad, Anantgiri Hills


Ananthagiri Hills are located 10 km from   Vikarabad, Ranga Reddy district, Telangana, India. The hills are the main source of water for Osmansagar and Himayathsagar. It is considered as one of the dense forests in Telangana region. Ananthagiri has a famous temple located in this forested region, which is also the birthplace of Musi River. It is situated at about 80 km from Hyderabad City. 

It has a wonderful 2 hour trek from the base of the hill. The trek to the top is relatively easy. There is no fixed path for the trek, you just need to walk. The best time to visit this place is in monsoon.

Mumbai, Karnala Bird Sanctuary


Karnala fort also knwon as Funnel Hill is in Raigad District about 10 km from Panvel city, 65km from Mumbai city, situated along the Mumbai-Goa highway. Currently, it is a protected place lying within the Karnala Bird   Sanctuary & is one of the best specimens of the 13th-century constructions. The fort of Karnala is famous for its strange pinnacle and the bird sanctuary that is set up amidst the forest. It is a wonderful 2 hour trek from the base of the hill, routes that wind through the forest, crude track that encircles the sanctuary and lead to the trail up the mountain. Monsoon is the best time to visit this place.

Pune, Lohagad

Lohagad Fort is situated in the the beautiful Western Ghats at one of the most loved weekend destinations, Lonavala. Lohagad (Loha + gad) the name says it all. It's the iron fort and one of the strongest forts of Sahyadris. Lohagad is a very widespread fort. There are 4 doors to it from the nearby village -Lohgadwadi. i.e. ‘Ganesh Darwaja', ‘Narayan Darwaja', ‘Hanuman Darwaja’ and ‘Maha Darwaja. To the western side of the fort is Vinchu Kata and it gets it name because the area looks like scorpion’s sting. The fort has been declared as a protected monument by the government.
